Learn to weave at the Bower Weaving Studio
Come and learn to weave with me in the peaceful, leafy surroundings of my Hillsborough garden studio.

I offer a range of different options, using rigid heddle or 4 shaft table looms. These are simple-to-use looms, operated just with the hands, but can be used to create an amazing variety of textures and patterns.
Some suggestions for a lesson format are given below.

Classes for one or two people are available by appointment, for $50/person for a two hour session. Half hour increments can be added for $10. A class pass of three 2 hour sessions is $120. All students must show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 when booking.

Please get in touch at helenbowerjones@gmail.com and we can take it from there - I'll be happy to hear from you!
Let's get weaving!

This is a fun introduction to rigid heddle weaving which will quickly introduce you to the loom and have you weaving straightaway!

After a brief explanation of the loom and the basic principles of weaving you will sit down at a ready-warped 10" Cricket loom, pick out whatever yarns catch your eye from the wide selection of fun fibers available at the studio, and start weaving! In a two hour session, you will be able create a small wall piece or table mat to take home.

Let's get warped!

Are you ready to warp your own rigid heddle or table loom but not sure where to begin? Bring your loom to the studio and I can walk you through the process.

More on four!

Although you can do all sorts of beautiful weaving on a rigid heddle loom working with four shafts opens up a whole new world of
pattern possibilities! If you're ready to explore beyond your rigid heddle, or just jump straight in to learning the basics of weaving on a shaft loom, I can get you started! We will examine the straight draw threading, which is the foundation of many, many structures, and learn to understand a simple weaving draft, which is the printed diagram of what you are weaving.
